Classes begin on January 5, 2008.  We will not hold classes on major national holidays and will not have classes for spring break according to Hoover City Schools. 
Classes end the second week of May.  We will do a sping showcase that will highlight the children's dances in May at the end of the semester.

Our hip hop programs focus on the "cleaner" side of hip hop that emphasizes a children performance style which is popular with Nickelodeon, Disney (High School Musical/Hannah Montana), and other kids' performances.  This is not a Bboy style breakdancing class.  Kids will learn solid dance fundamentals of the hip hop persuasion.  We do not teach acrobatic tricks, headspins, aerial movements, and other dangerous stunts. 

Our contemporary jazz program introduces solid fundamentals of jazz and expands these concepts to emphasize lyrical expression, non traditional movements, and many other creative styles within jazz.  We choose to teach the contemporary style because many children find this more fun, less restrictive, and more creative than traditional jazz.  Solid jazz fundamentals are taught and stressed, but this is done in a non traditional way compared to many other studios in the area.  We also explore the Broadway styles within the class.

The Jumps, Turns, and Tricks classes focus on performance styles that are popular in today's choreography.  There will be acro movements that are different than gymnastics or cheer and everything focuses on dance technique.  Movements include jetes, side jumps, fuetes, jump turns, split jumps, splits, and more!

The creative movement classes for 3-4 year olds focus on an introduction to dance styles.  We use Disney and Kids Bop music and give the children intoductions to basic movement.  We also play dance related and creative games, sing, and other ways to introduce children to dance in a positive way.  We also do an introduction to basic ballet.

All classes are taught by professional dancers in the Vulcan Performers professional dance company and are adult dancers.  We do not use underage or high school instructors for any of our classes.

Studio owner, Wendy Zito, has a degree from the University of Alabama in Child Development.   Besides being a professional ballroom dancer, artistic director of the Vulcan Performers, she has over 20 years of ballet, tap, jazz, hip hip,
and other dance /performance experience.
